A decade-old community founded to create a home for gamers who value teamwork, friendship, and fun.
Born from the vision of MKA0207, our community began as a small group of casual Left 4 Dead players, bonding over a shared love for Source Engine zombie games.
We quickly outgrew the late-night zombie hordes of L4D and began searching for a new place to gather.
The game that started it all
We started as a close-knit group of friends playing on a single Left 4 Dead server. Our name, inspired by the F.U.N. Song from SpongeBob SquarePants, reflects the lighthearted nature of our players.
The first Garry's Mod iteration of FWKZT was a Trouble in Terrorist Town server, launched in 2011 by MKA0207 while still in high school. Popularized by creators like SeaNanners, more players soon joined the TTT server and fostered a culture of chaotic hilarity that would prove to define FWKZT.
During this formative period, we laid the groundwork for a community rooted in experimentation and fun. We were determined to create a space where gamers could forge positive, memorable experiences together.
FWKZT experienced significant growth and evolution during this period with the launch of our Zombie Survival server. Soon after, we introduced game modes like Murder, Prop Hunt, and DarkRP, which attracted new players and quickly established themselves as fan favorites.
Our team aimed to reinvent the Garry's Mod experience through custom content—unique weapons, maps, and gameplay mechanics that set us apart. We also established regular community events to foster a culture of camaraderie, ultimately creating new traditions that kept our players coming back for more.
By the end of this period, our Zombie Survival server had become one of the most popular and respected in the Garry's Mod Zombie Survival game mode. Additionally, 2016 marked the creation of our Discord, furthering the evolution of our close-knit gaming community.
Continuing to grow, our team was focused on projects that expand the community and branch into new multiplayer experiences. We decided to collaborate with Monochrome Games—the talented indie developers behind Contagion and Zombie Panic! Source—to port ZPS to Garry's Mod. Although the port remains unfinished, the collaboration showcased our ability to innovate with like-minded creators.
Other ambitious ventures followed, including the development of our own custom game modes like Stick Arena, Hub, Trepidation, Just Panic!, Last Stand, and our own version of Virus.
FWKZT has evolved into a community that prides itself on providing the highest standard of multiplayer gaming experiences. Recent projects include porting VScript Saxton Hale into our custom Player Versus Boss mode, as well as hosting our own Multimodes server to preserve and enjoy the Garry's Mod classics.
Our Discord continues to offer a variety of scheduled events, and helps members connect with new friends to play games with—even beyond the servers we host.
With increasingly complex projects and game modes, we strive to keep the FWKZT experience fresh and one-of-a-kind. Over our lifetime we've grown not only in size but also in maturity—fostering an environment of respect, creativity, and collaboration. Every day brings new players and new opportunities to share our passion for killing zombies together.
Transforming a passion for gaming into a thriving community that's lasted over a decade.
As the driving force behind FWKZT, I've focused on creating a space where players can enjoy creative game modes while fostering lasting friendships.
